Brooklyn based Praveen Sharma has always taken a genre absorbing, dancefloor-oriented approach to his output as Braille, effortlessly floating through house, techno, melancholic ambient and UK Bass. His singles on European labels Rush Hour (“The Year 3000”) and Hotflush Recordings (“A Meaning”) were critically acclaimed and set the stage for his full length album debut on LA based label Friends of Friends (“Mute Swan”). After a flurry of EP and single releases, Braille's second album, "Triple Transit" was released on Hotflush Recordings on August 8th, 2024.
Braille has performed throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, as well as in Mexico City, Peru and Ibiza. Some notable venues Braille has performed at are Smart Bar in Chicago, Berghain in Berlin, Webster Hall in NY and Pikes in Ibiza. With features on Boiler Room, The Lot Radio, BBC Radio and Fact Magazine, his music has been supported by Mary Anne Hobbes, Giles Peterson, John Digweed, Fourtet, Machinedrum, Scuba, Falty DL and many more artists and DJs across the globe. Braille has had print features in DJ Mag (2024), Mixmag (2015), Wall Street Journal (2011), The Wire (2008) and more.
Additionally Braille has contributed music to major motion pictures such as “Black Swan” as well as collaborated with artists such as Machinedrum (Sepalcure) a collaboration that award them Pitchfork's "Best New Music" award, and Heather Pearls (Pleasure Jail). His new series on YouTube, "Braille Sounds", give viewers a peak inside Braille's studio and writing process.
